About Me
Jacob Melamed is a Director and Writer who makes short films focusing on mental health, existentialism and identity. He loves to balance a tonal tightrope between comedy and drama within his work, allowing audiences to laugh and be entertained in one scene and cry and reflect upon themselves and their place in the world in another.
Jacob's films have screened at various prestigious international film festivals. His most recent short film, “Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge”, is premiered at the Chicago International Children’s Festival. His previous films "We HaveMe", was funded by Screen NSW under their Screenability film fund, premiered at the Sydney International Film Festival. His first short film, "Invisible", is on-demand on ABC iView under their shorts program, having premiered at Flickerfest.
Jacob holds a bachelor's in Media Production from The University of New South Wales, a Graduate Certificate in Directing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School, and a Master of Screenwriting at the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
He was shortlisted for the SBS emerging writers incubator in 2023.
